Addressing Severe Wall Movement Caused by Subsidence

Wyatt Carruthers Jebb Ltd were instructed to inspect movement in an external wall to a circa 1930’s block of low-rise flats.

Upon inspection it could be seen that the rear wall to a Ground Floor and First Floor flat had suffered significant movement and the inspecting structural engineer from Wyatt Carruthers Jebb immediately recommended that timber propping be installed as a matter of urgency.

Whilst at the property a dimensional survey was carried out and information emailed to Wyatt Carruthers Jebb’s Office in order that a design and details for the temporary propping could be produced and provided to a Contractor on the day of the inspection.

The following day Wyatt Carruthers Jebb were in attendance whilst the timber propping was installed to Wyatt Carruthers Jebb’s design.

Wyatt Carruthers Jebb were then instructed to carry out an investigation as to the cause of the movement which confirmed the movement is due to subsidence.
